Registration for tackle football is open from May 1 to July 1.


Key information:

-6 age level teams for ages 8 to 13


-Equipment fitting will take place in late June or early July, exact dates TBD


-Practices will begin in mid-August


-Games begin the first weekend after Labor Day, with potential for scrimmages the last weekend in August.


-Registration fee is $450 per child.   Payment can be made in 3 installments with $175 due at sign-up.   Fees include new game jerseys and pants, new practice jerseys and pants, as well as shoulder pad rental and a helmet.  You will also be responsible for purchase of cleats, mouthpieces and additional game or practice pants if desired.  You will also have the opportunity to purchase a state-of-the-art speedflex helmet custom from Riddell (around $300) or purchase a used, refurbished speedflex helmet from the Somers Youth Football (around $150).  Your fees go to pay for game referees, practice lights, practice and drill equipment such as bags, footballs, EMT service at our games, league fees and miscellaneous costs of operating our football program.  The fee is higher this year as overall costs have increased and this is the first year we are including both game and practice jerseys and pants all inclusive for the entire program.

-COVID.  Our practices and games will be subject to all applicable COVID-19 related regulations and requirements as defined by the CDC, Westchester DOH, The Town of Somers, Somers Youth Sports Organization, as well as our league.  Failure on behalf of parents and athletes to abide by these regulations may result in suspension or termination from Somers Youth Football, at the discretion of the Football Board.  You will be required to sign a COVID-19 Waiver in order for your child to participate.
